Today’s Simple Nature Sketch

In keeping with my feather theme from yesterday, I decided to sketch this blue jay feather.  I found this one awhile ago and placed it with my found objects.  I like to keep a little collection available for still life subject matter.

It is such a treat to discover blue jay feathers with their intense blue color and stripe like markings. When seen in nature, their beauty is fully evident. Their intense coloring matches their robust personalities! A highly intelligent bird, they have been known to mimic the calls of other species of birds.  Certainly an interesting and beautiful species to observe!

How about you? Do you have blue jays in your area?

Warmly,

Debbie

P.S. ( I changed the word blue jay to two words in my sketchbook, but when I tried to take a photo of my sketch again, the feather divisions had changed….soooo posting my first one. 😀 )
